Sex During Pregnancy
Sex and pregnancy are discussed with topics that cover the conception of a child that involved sex and the after sex issues with a new baby at home. Sex during pregnancy is a topic that is becoming increasingly more popular to discuss. Women who are pregnant are at the most beautiful that they can be and should be treated as such. The want to feel desired and being pregnant should not interfere with these natural urges that they may have during their nine months of pregnancy.
The good news is sex is considered safe for all women that are going through a normal pregnancy. This refers to a pregnancy that has a pretty low risk rate for complications such as a miscarriage or going into to labor too early. All questions and concerns should be discussed with your doctor before proceeding with an active sex life while pregnant. If you have had a history of miscarriage or pre term labor your doctor may advise against sex during your pregnancy. Leaking of amniotic fluid or any type of vaginal bleeding may also cause a doctor to advise to stop your sexual practices. A condition known as placenta previa, which is where the placenta is down so low that it covers the opening to the cervix can also delay sex until after the baby arrives. Women who are carrying multiple babies may not be able to practice sex either.
While some women do not feel sexually attractive during their pregnancy, there are many that do and want to have sexual intercourse. Of course a woman's body changes and grows larger, but if she is not uncomfortable with the idea then why not give it a try. Communication is important with all areas of sex and sex during this time should be no different. Experiment with different ways of being intimate such as kissing and caressing and tell your partner what you like and what does not feel good. There are two types of behavior associated with sex that a woman should not engage in while pregnant. One is having casual sex with men whom she does not know. This may create a problem with a persona and their unknown sexual past. A risk for STD's and AIDS increases with this type of behavior. Also having a partner blow into the vagina during oral sex is not a good idea. This can cause an embolism and can be fatal for both baby and mom. Sex during pregnancy should be done with caution and concern for both mom and baby. |
