Biggest Fears during Pregnancy
When a woman finds out she is pregnant many things go through her mind, excitement and worry. She also begins to have some fears. The biggest fears in most pregnant women include:
- When I carry the baby to full term?
- Will the baby be healthy?
- Will I have to have a C-section?
- Can I handle labor pains?
- Can I still enjoy all my activities?
All of these are real fears for most first time mothers and most of them can be dealt with when you know what is going on with your body by listening to your doctor. If you have never had a baby then you should not fear a miscarriage as long as you listen to your doctor and do what he recommends. He can perform tests to ensure that your body is preparing properly to carry the baby to full term, learn if you have any medical problems that may cause you to have a miscarriage and of course keep an eye on the developing to be sure that he is growing properly and is not having any problems that might warrant a miscarriage.
Worry about whether the baby will be healthy is another major concern can your doctor can help with. Just as he can perform tests on your body to watch for signs of miscarriage, he can also monitor the baby to ensure that he will be healthy.
To ensure that your baby is born healthy, you should eat properly and exercise. Eating well-balanced meals and avoiding such things as alcohol, drugs, and junk food will give your baby a better chance of being born healthy. Your doctor will more than likely prescribe a pre-natal vitamin and possibly other supplements to aid in the development of your baby, take them as prescribed. Gentle exercising is also recommended, such as walking and swimming. It helps to tone the muscles and aids in preparing your body for labor and delivery.
Most of the time a C-section is not even a consideration unless the mom or baby is in danger. This is something that you can also discuss with your doctor. Let him know how you feel about a C-section and he can help you avoid one.
If you are worried about managing labor pains, the best insurance is to join a childbirth class. There are several different classes that can teach you how to control some of the pain during labor and focus on something a bit more pleasant.
You can pretty much enjoy all the fun things that you normally enjoy such as dancing, jogging (in the early months), intercourse, and even work. If you are concerned about some of your activities such as rigorous exercise then you can talk with your doctor to ensure that the activities will not harm the baby. |
