Exercise during Pregnancy
While pregnant women need to be in the best health possible, this means having a well balanced diet paired with adequate exercise is necessary. We are not talking about running 10 miles. A simple work out routine will help to keep you in shape and have you ready for all that goes into the delivery process. It does take a toll on your muscles. All of them. Make sure that your doctor is aware of your work out plans so that it does not harm you or your unborn child.
It is true that exercise just makes you feel better. It helps to boost your energy levels and release endorphins into your brain that make you feel good. Exercise may also help with any backaches that you may be having. Toning your muscles while exercising will definitely help when all of the muscles come together when you are going through delivery. Endurance during delivery is one thing a lot of women go through. If it is a lengthy process having prepared with exercise will be beneficial. The breathing that corresponds with exercise is quite similar to that during labor and delivery.
The benefits of exercising are great. If constipation is a problem for you exercise can help reduce it. Your skin will look better because exercise helps your blood to flow. Your joints tend to stiffen while pregnant because you may not be as active. With exercise you can keep them as good as new. Another benefit that pregnant women love is that they sleep better if they exercise. Working out before pregnancy, during, and after will help you to maintain your original body size. Do not worry after delivery. Most women still carry some of their pregnancy weight.
If you exercised before your pregnancy, keep your routine, but with minor limitations. If you just not started to exercise and are pregnant start out slow. Good exercises for pregnant women include Pilates, yoga, and swimming. Walking is also great and towards your delivery date it can actually help the process along. There are some exercises that women who are expecting should not do. Sit ups are not recommended after the first trimester. They cause your heart rate to drop. Also weight lifting can reduce the blood flow to your uterus and kidneys. Pregnancy should be a relaxing, blessed event. While it can be uncomfortable at times exercise can help to release some of those pressures. Be careful with your exercise and do not push yourself too hard. Your baby's health is of utmost importance. |
