Surviving Best Rest during Pregnancy
Staying in bed for a whole day is an idea that sometimes crosses our minds as a pleasant "wannabe" opportunity. For some people, the idea is a reality when, for any given reason, staying in bed is necessary for a couple of days or so, but when it comes to pregnancy, the stay is not as appealing as it could be.
Sadly, many pregnant women are prescribed with bed resting during their pregnancy. The length of the stay and the situations leading to bed resting vary, but it is most often prescribed because of your medical history, pointing to potential complications, or when previous pregnancies provide this information and the doctor wants to ensure that complications will not arise this time.
Sometimes other circumstances may lead to bed rest, during pregnancy, such as a high-risk pregnancy, which is due to age or poor health. It may also occur when at some point of a normal pregnancy bleeding or contractions occur, that require resting in bed from several days or weeks to the whole pregnancy term, and when the doctor determines that the baby's growth can be poor and rest is needed.
This medical mandate may occur at any point during pregnancy, so you probably will be able to enjoy your normal activities at home, work, sharing time with your friends and following your regular pregnancy plan as planned, including exercising, balanced diet and scheduled visits to you doctor..
During one of those visits, your doctor may recommend bed rest, if such rest was not previously planned. Thus, the best way to survive this forced situation is the approach in which you give this prescribed resting time. Although many women consider bed rest as a mini-vacation, it is false the idea that you will have to lay around doing nothing.
Bed rest during pregnancy can be enjoyable and productive if you keep your health and peace of mind obtaining information during this time. Knowledge is power and you will find that learning more about any topic, including your condition, can help you feel more in control during the resting time.
Furthermore, ask to find out exactly which activities are allowed and which are not. You will be surprised finding that you can stand up for a few minutes (or hours) to do something else besides lying down. Although every circumstance is different and not all women are allowed to leave bed, particularly when a woman has had previous pregnancies that ended in a miscarriage, stillbirth or a premature birth.
Pampering yourself during this period will help you to feel better and look great. Try to maintain a routine even in bed, but ask your doctor first, and stay connected with the outdoors world using delivery services for your previously common activities, but also with your family, asking for their help if needed. |
