The Best Way Men can Help

The best way in which for fathers-to-be to help their partners is above all else understand that she is going through many changes in her body and emotionally. Her body is preparing itself to be the home for your developing baby for next 40 weeks. Her body will be changing internally and of course, outwardly, where you can see. She will have morning sickness at any time of the day or night. Your cologne that she once loved may make her sick to her stomach. She may seem grumpy, irritable, depressed, withdrawn and quite a few other emotions.

Now, for ways to help. Go with her to doctor appointments, be interested in the development of the baby and join a childbirth class together. All of these types of things will show her that you wish to learn about the baby and how her own body is changing to carry the baby.

As for other ways, you can go for walks, go for a swim, help her with gentle exercises, and even go shopping to help her find maternity clothing when the time is right.

Around the house, your partner is going to be tired during her first trimester and her last trimester. This is when you can help her most around the house. During the last trimester, she will be larger and will have a harder time bending over to pick up items off the floor, get clothing out of the dryer and the clean dishes out of the dishwasher. This would be an excellent time to help her with those kinds of chores. Also reaching above her head can be trying, help her to put up items that need to go on top shelves in the cabinets or the lower cabinets as well.

Surprise her with little gifts. She may feel unattractive and unloved during different stages of her pregnancy. Be sure to help her overcome these feelings by letting her know just how beautiful you think she is and by finding special ways to show her.

Remember, she is going to be tired quite a bit. Do not plan long outings without first seeing if she feels up to it. When traveling, allow her to get out of the car and stretch. Sitting for a long car ride is uncomfortable for anyone and for a pregnant woman that needs to visit the bathroom more it can be unenjoyable.
