Hypno-Birth Method of Childbirth
HypnoBirthing is a method inspired and based on the techniques of the English physician, Grantly Dick-Read, who was the pioneer in the field of natural childbirth. Hypno-birth Method of Childbirth is unique because it combines relaxed natural childbirth education with self-hypnosis, in order to mirror nature.
Enhanced by hypnosis techniques, this method is unique in comparison with others helping a woman to develop her natural instincts to give birth safer, easier and more comfortable, by means of gaining an understanding of how her body works during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Women can feel confidence with this method because is totally natural.
Women are taught in self-hypnosis techniques that help them to feel sufficiently relaxed. When this goal is achieve, the birthing muscles can work in perfect harmony with their corresponding functions as they were designed. Relaxation flows naturally, free of resistance that your fears about birthing create, reversing your anxiety.
Because of its origins taken from Grantly Dick-Read's concepts of natural birthing developed in the 1920s and published in 1933, the Hypno-birth Method of Childbirth is as much a philosophy as it is an innovative technique, since it was developed by American hypnotherapist Marie Mongan, born in Concord , New Hampshire .
Marie Mongan has thirty years experience in education and counseling. She is best known as "Mickey", holding several awards for distinguished service, that promote her as an American diplomat with The Bridges for Peace Foundation, traveling to Moscow in the spring of 1992, where she taught personnel management techniques to Russian women.
HypnoBirthing concept can be summarized in Mickey's thought, "My dream is that every woman, everywhere, will know the joy of a safe, satisfying birth for both her baby and herself, one she'll not need to forget". Hypno-birth Method of Childbirth is a modern progression of the Grantly Dick-Read Method promoting the absence of tension and fear accompanying birth.
In America, HypnoBirthing techniques were used for the first time by Marie Mongan herself, gaining popularity in the early 1990's. After publishing her book "HypnoBirthing, A Celebration Of Life", she founded the HypnoBirthing Institute, teaching the method to pregnant women, as well as hypnotherapists and midwives who run their own classes all over the world.
Hypno-birth Method is to focus the woman's mind on visualizations and breathing techniques to experience deep relaxation similar to meditation or yoga, rather than a trance or asleep associated with hypnosis, discovering that severe pain is not the natural companion of labor and delivery. |
