Will I Ever Lose All Of This Weight After Delivery?

Many women worrying about losing their girlish figure once they become pregnant, however, if they follow their doctors guidelines they will not gain more weight than is needed to carry the baby. The normal range of weight to gain for pregnancy is between 25 and 35 pounds. Now, let's take into consideration that the baby will weigh around 8 pounds, now you are down to 17 pounds, the placenta can weigh as much as 5 pounds, now you are down to 12 pounds, there is the extra water and amniotic fluid that the baby is in which weighs around another 5 pounds so technically you only need to lose around 7 pounds if you gained 25 pounds.

This amount of weight should not be very hard to lose at all. As long as you eat properly, exercise and stay away from junk food you will not gain more than you need for yourself and your baby while you are pregnant. Some women do find, however, that they have gained more than they needed and need to lose some extra weight.

Remember, once the baby is born, you will normally have a small belly until the uterus goes back to its normal size. You should not go on a diet if you are breast-feeding unless you ask your doctor about the type of diet to ensure that you will still be providing the needed nutrients to your baby.

According to what type of delivery you had whether it was vaginal or C-section may also play a large part into how fast you will lose the weight. If you had a C-section, you will have to wait at least 6 to 8 weeks before you start most exercise programs besides walking. With a vaginal delivery, you may be ready to begin exercising within 2 weeks of giving birth.

Once again, you should talk it over with your doctor before you begin any type of exercise program in case of the chance of tearing stitches or incisions. You may enjoy swimming to tone your muscles once your doctor gives the okay. Until then you can walk around the park pushing your little one in a stroller. At least this is a good start.

Don't worry as long as you eat properly and exercise when you are given the okay, you will lose the weight rather quickly in most cases.
